Mission Statement

Pinal Council for CASA/ Foster, Inc. (PCCI) recognizes the need for
a non-profit, public service organization dedicated to promoting public participation in the support of programs for abused, neglected and abandoned children in the foster care system in Pinal County, Arizona.

What We Do

Our primary goal is to solicit funds to meet the special and unmet needs of children in the foster care system in our communities. Another goal is to increase awareness of the CASA Program and recruit new volunteers.

Our History

PCCI was established in 2004 by Lynda Williams and Carmen Auza, originally as Pinal County Chapter of Arizona Council for CASA, Inc. The State ACCI dissolved in December 2007 and our organization reorganized as Pinal Council for CASA/ Foster, Inc., a 501 (c) (3)
serving the foster children of Pinal County, Arizona. PCCI now consists of a board of twenty-seven (27) active members who diligently work tirelessly to improve the status of children’s lives within the foster care system. PCCI programs include: Sylvan
Learning Center tutoring, Central Arizona College Partnership, Pack with Pride Program, Project Prom and numerous other programs.

EVERY child needs to be loved and given an opportunity to succeed!

For a number of reasons, abused or neglected children
end up in a situation where they, for their own protection,
must be removed from their birth families
and placed in foster care.

Now imagine being a child left with nothing.
No mother, no father, no home.  No favorite stuffed animals to hug,
no familiar surroundings and
no idea why everything in life has changed.

There are several hundred foster children in Pinal County, ranging in age from birth to 18, who live with that reality …everyday. These children and youth have been abused, neglected or abandoned and deserve the opportunity to be prepared to take over their own lives. While the State of Arizona provides funds to support these children, there are unmet needs which make it more difficult for these young people to overcome their circumstance.

The state provides $150.00 per year as a clothing allowance which makes it very difficult to keep a growing, active child properly outfitted with clothes and shoes. Most foster parents also have children of their own and cannot afford to provide additional necessities or children are placed in-group homes due to a shortage of foster homes.

In addition, foster children have had significant disruption and turmoil in their lives due to abuse and many have fallen behind in their educational progress. They need tutoring and special assistance to help them catch up. Many don’t have school supplies, backpacks and the traditional necessities they need. Since some older children are enrolled in college through Independent Living Programs, they need assistance with textbooks and other fees.

PCCI was created to help fill the need for these essential unmet items, making children feel cared for and having the same opportunities as their more fortunate peers.

We need your help!

Will you please consider making a donation to PCCI? It is tax deductible and 100% of the funds go directly to the children. These young people deserve the chance to succeed and we know their future will be much brighter if they have the right tools and support. With your help the children will know there is a helping hand.  Click here to donate now!

50 years from now…it will not matter what my bank account was, the type of house I lived in or the kind of car I drove, but the world might be different…because I was important in the life of a CHILD!
